Basketball City hosts regional of Allstate tourney March 5 Registration deadline for men and women's teams is March 1

NORTHBROOK, Ill. February 22, 2005 - If you and your college buddies still think you're pretty good on the hardwood, former New York Knicks men's basketball star John Starks and Allstate Insurance Company want you to put your skills to the test - playing for a chance at a trip to St. Louis and a $10,000 contribution to your school's alumni association.

The Allstate Alumni 3 on 3 Classic, New York regional will take place March 5 at Basketball City. The winning team will qualify for a trip to St. Louis the weekend of April 1 to face off in the national finals against winners from regional tournaments in Chicago, Charlotte and San Francisco. Allstate will make a $10,000 contribution to the alumni association of the men and women's team that win the finals.

In addition, participants in the semifinals of the Allstate Alumni 3 on 3 Classic in St. Louis will find themselves on TV when the games are broadcast on CSTV Monday, April 4 (9:30 p.m. EDT/6:30 p.m. PDT). The championship game airs Monday, April 11 (9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT).

To register, players should assemble their teams and log on to www.Allstate3on3.com. The deadline to sign up is March 1.

"The Allstate Alumni 3 on 3 Classic encourages college basketball fans to take pride in their alma mater and compete for bragging rights on the court," said Starks.

During their New York regional, Allstate says it will also be teaming up with Starks to make charitable donations to the New York Knicks and Power to Learn Reading Lounge program and Police Athletic League.

The New York Knicks and Power to Learn Reading Lounge initiative (www.powertolearn.com) will receive a donation compliments of Allstate that will send 300 kids to the Knicks vs. Hawks game on Sunday, April 17. These kids, currently participating in the Knicks/Power to Learn Virtual Reading Zone, will receive these tickets as a reward for their reading achievements. The nation's second largest home and auto insurer, turned tournament sponsor, will also make a donation to the Police Athletic League, one of New York City's largest, nonprofit, independent youth organizations that offers New York City boys and girls.

"Allstate knows how much basketball means to the New York, and the company believes in supporting our youth as a way to promote safe and vital communities in New York and across the country," said Allstate Exclusive Agent John Rose of the Rose Insurance Agency. "The New York Knicks and Police Athletic League are deserving recipients because they incorporate basketball into enriching the lives of youth."

To be eligible for the single-elimination Allstate Alumni 3 on 3 Classic, participants must have a degree from an accredited college or university and meet certain other eligibility requirements. Each region will have one division for men and one division for women.
