CABLEVISION'S POWER TO LEARN WINS TWO COVETED 2005 BEACON AWARDS

Innovative Educational Web Portal and Internet Smarts Booklet Receive Top Honor For Providing Valuable Resources That Enhance Education

Bethpage, NY May 18, 2005 - Cablevision Systems Corporation's Power to Learn, a multi-faceted initiative dedicated to integrating technology into education, has recently been recognized with two distinguished Beacon Awards honoring excellence in public affairs throughout the cable industry. Power to Learn has been awarded for Best Education Website, www.powertolearn.com, and Best Educational Print Materials for its Internet Smarts resource booklet. Each of these innovative components of Power to Learn's nationally recognized education initiative enhance the benefits of technology in the classroom to ensure the broadband connection provided by Cablevision is used appropriately and in meaningful ways to significantly enhance learning within the company's service area.

"Cablevision's Power to Learn initiative goes above and beyond simply bringing broadband connectivity to schools. The program maximizes the educational value of our high-speed Internet connection in innovative and useful ways," said Trent Anderson, Cablevision's vice president of education. "We are extraordinarily proud to accept these honorable awards as we continue to provide valuable resources that enhance education within our communities."

This is the fifth consecutive year powertolearn.com has earned the distinction of best education website. Powertolearn.com provides an online learning destination that offers content, programs and resources that complement the high-speed Internet connectivity Cablevision brings to schools and libraries. By leveraging the cable industry's wealth of educational content, developing signature initiatives that address needs of schools such as Internet Smarts and Virtual Reading Rooms, powertolearn.com elevates the use of broadband technology in the classroom. The website also enhances the home-school connection, encouraging parental involvement in their child's education and helping educators integrate technology into their curriculum.

Power to Learn's family resource booklet titled Internet Smarts: Safeguarding Your Children in Cyberspace, answers common questions about Internet use and offers practical tips and suggestions to keep kids safe online. Written in a non-technical question and answer format, the booklet addresses issues such as music downloading, plagiarism, copyright and the importance of keeping personal information private. Printed and downloadable copies are available at www.powertolearn.com.

The Internet Smarts booklet is just one aspect of Power to Learn's Internet Smarts program, which provides a forum for teachers and parents to work with children on appropriate and safe Internet use. Online, interactive case studies explore important topics on Internet use at school and at home, allowing students to examine issues affecting schoolwork, class papers, entertainment activities and online safety. Additionally, students, classes and schools can become certified "Internet Smart." Internet Smarts is a free resource offered to schools. More information can be found at www.powertolearn.com.

Power to Learn, Cablevision's nationally recognized education initiative, empowers K-12 learning in the tri-state area by making technology in the classroom useful and by facilitating the home-school connection. Today, more than 2,100 schools and libraries throughout Cablevision's New York metropolitan service area receive high-speed Internet access and more than 85 percent of schools in Cablevision's service area receive free cable television service as a result of this initiative. In addition, teachers, students and parents benefit from innovative educational content and tools available on www.powertolearn.com, a broadband Web resource dedicated to facilitating K-12 learning and the home-school connection.
