 Welcome to The Challenge! 2007 - 2008 Season The Challenge is an academic TV quiz show for high schools featuring the best and brightest local students. The Challenge tests high school students' knowledge of history, arts and literature, science and math. The show is made up of three rounds: Multiple Choice, The Lightning Round and Free Response. There are also randomly placed bonus questions for teams to earn extra points. For the last 10 years Cablevision, News 12 Networks and Power to Learn have proudly put the spotlight on local high school academic talent. Hundreds of schools have competed, thousands of exceptional students have participated and the show has expanded to include five News 12 markets. In New Jersey, The Challenge just completed its sophomore year and the show is gearing up for its third season. Connecticut enjoyed their first year of competition and are ready for season two. The Challenge has once again expanded. This fall, schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester and Hudson Valley will also compete on this educational stage. Each fall, high schools from around the area hope to be chosen as one of 32 schools in each region that will participate. Schools advance in the tournament through a series of elimination rounds. After 31 weeks of competition, one school in each region is crowned champion, winning $2,500 dollars for their school. The final winning teams from each region go on to The Challenge Championship where they square off one another in a tri-state showdown. The school crowned The Challenge Champion will receive $10,000 in prize money. Each student participating in the final Challenge Championship game will receive $500. You can play along and watch The Challenge every Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm beginning Saturday, November 10, 2007 through June 2008 - only on News 12.
