LONG ISLAND:
North Babylon High School on behalf of Ride for Life
Cablevision's Power to Learn recognized North Babylon High School as the New York Charity Champions winner for its efforts on behalf of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. For the Charity Champions competition, the school organized 6 separate fund-raising events, including acting as a school sponsor for Ride for Life's Journey of Hope. Through these efforts, the school raised $20,000 for the Ride to Life organization.

Metuchen High School on behalf of the National Organization for Migration
Power to Learn recognized Metuchen High School students as New Jersey Charity Champions for their efforts on behalf of the National Organization for Migration, a global charity helping to put an end to child slavery in Ghana. For the Charity Champions competition, Metuchen High School organized various separate fund-raising events, including a walk, a benefit concert and a dinner. Students, faculty members and the Metuchen community ultimately raised more than $9,000.
