12 Ways to Go Green Order Poster

TIP #1
Refuse, Reuse, and Recycle. The Three Rs are the most important rules to "Going Green".
Think about the Three Rs every time you consider a potential purchase.

Is it something that you really need?
If so, REFUSE IT.

Is it something that is made of or packaged in recycled material, or which you can reuse in some way?
If so, REUSE IT.

Is it something that can be recycled easily?
If so, RECYCLE IT.

TIP #2
Watch your water. When you wash your hands or brush your teeth, the water should be a pencil-thin stream. Don't forget to turn off the water while brushing your teeth!

TIP #3
Food. Pack sandwiches, fruit, veggies and treats in reusable food containers.

TIP #4
Turn off the lights. Ask teachers or parents if you can put reminder stickers near light switches. Start a "Lights-Off Fund" to which people must donate every time they forget to turn off the lights!

TIP #5
Carpool to activities. Ask your teacher to tell you if classmates live near your home, so you can plan carpools to school and to other activities.

TIP #6
Ask for "green" school supplies. Kids can get environmentally-friendly school supplies that will make a difference.

TIP #7
Ease up on the video games. Playing video games on computers or gaming systems uses a LOT of energy! You can save energy–and get healthier–by going outside to play.

TIP #8
Donate your clothes and toys to a worthy cause. When you get tired of your playthings, or grow out of your clothing, don't throw them away–give them away. You'll be helping someone less fortunate–and, you'll also be keeping these things out of the trash.

TIP #9
Conserve paper products. Use both sides of the paper in your notebook or from your printer.

TIP #10
Don't litter! Properly dispose of trash–and, always pick up any trash you see on the ground.

TIP #11
Find ways to conserve electricity. Open a window for cool air instead of using air conditioning. Put on a sweater instead of turning up the heat.

TIP #12
Don't waste power. Unplug appliances and electronic chargers when you're not using them.
