Connecticut - Habitat For Humanity Awarded With A Donation On Behalf of Students At King Low Heywood Thomas High School
April 13, 2012

Stamford, CT, April 13, 2012 - MSG Varsity and Power to Learn, along with Senator Carlo Leone, recognized students at King Low Heywood Thomas for participating in this year's Charity Champions, a program from Power to Learn that promotes volunteerism and encourages area high schools to raise funds for a charity of their choice.  After opening remarks from Dean of Community Affairs Lise Leift, Senator Leone recognized the students for their dedication to the charity and Student Advisor Keeniun Brumskill discussed the school's involvement with Charity Champions.  Upcoming fundraising activities include a Student Fashion Show and a Faculty/Staff/Alumni Talent Show and Auction, with proceeds going to building a house for a veteran returning to Stamford.  Students will also participate in the actual building of the house, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. The school was presented with $1,000 to be donated to Habitat for Humanity and also received $500 for the furtherance of the students' charitable activities.
