Long Island - 3rd and 4th Graders at Jackson Main Elementary School in Hempstead Complete Knicks Read to Achieve Program
June 13, 2008

Students at Jackson Main Elementary School in Hempstead were rewarded with certificates of completion and a pizza party courtesy of Power to Learn. This event followed the students' completion of the Knicks Read to Achieve @powertolearn.com program, an exciting literacy program in partnership with the New York Knicks designed to help young people develop a life long love of reading.

Teachers, students and members of the school Administration were joined by NY State Senator Kemp Hannon, who helped congratulate the students with a certificate ceremony with a pep-rally inspired theme. Afterwards, the students and 5th grade band members presented the adults with a Rap called "Read with It, Rock with It" and later challenged the teachers to a basketball tournament.
