New York City - Bronx, NY - Students at the Sedgwick School, PS 109 get treated to a visit from a Radio City Rockette!
December 19, 2009

Bronx, NY, December 19, 2009 – Students at the Sedgwick School, PS 109 were visited by a real-live Radio City Rockette and NY Assemblywoman Vanessa Gibson in celebration of their recent trip to the Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular. A few weeks prior, the students, who were hand-picked due to attendance and other factors, were awarded by Power to Learn with free tickets to see the Christmas Spectacular in dress rehearsals and were then set up for this exciting in-school visit by Rockette Amy York and Assemblywoman Gibson. At the event, students participated in an interactive quiz about Radio City Music Hall and talked about their favorite parts of the show, then engaged in a Q&A session with Assemblywoman Gibson and the Rockette.

“What a wonderful way for our children to celebrate the holiday season,” noted Assemblywoman Gibson. “Thanks to Cablevision, the students here today learned about the world-renowned Radio City Music Hall in an engaging way and were able to speak firsthand with one of the famed Rockettes. It was exciting and informative. I am sure these children will remember this interactive program for many years to come.”

Principal Amanda Blatter thanked Cablevision’s Power to Learn, noting, “We are very grateful to Cablevision for bringing this holiday program to our school – a program that made learning about a New York City landmark interesting and fun. The students were smiling the entire time and were totally focused. It was obvious every one of them enjoyed the program tremendously.”
