Now you have some ideas for how to protect your digital impression. But what about the three incidents described in Posting, Pictures and People? Did their punishment fit the crime? Consider where you stand on this issue as you think about each side of the individual digital permanence stories included here:

• Posting - the cases of the soccer players
• Pictures – party pictures
• People – the "dog poop" girl
• Other digital impression cases you know of that involved consequences.

Your teacher will divide your class up into groups. Each group will choose or be assigned one incident and some will argue that the punishment does fit the "crime". The others will argue that it doesn't.

Then you will make a presentation about your thoughts on these topics. Take into account that there is a difference between a digital impression and a first impression in person. Can people be expected to forget and forgive a bad digital impression?
