The magnificent North Shore home was built in 1920. This 130 acre mansion was built by Alfred I. Du Pont, heir to the great chemical corporation. The estate was originally named White Eagle, but was renamed Templeton by the second owners, the prominent Guest family. The property today belongs to the New York Institute of Technology and is called the De Seversky Conference Center. The estate contained many luxurious guest quarters and magnificent stables for polo horses. A grand white marble staircase and a large ballroom are central to the mansion's beauty. A complicated series of fountains were created on several levels.
