It is very important how a team is presented in the media. After all, you want people to like the team and come out to root for them. One of the jobs of the communications assistant is to help create a positive image for the Liberty, which will help build a strong fan base. The job includes helping to put together publications that provide the media and fans with more information about the team.

Craig Glazer is the Communications Assistant for the Liberty. He helps prepare the Media Guide (which is loaded with team data), the Playoff Guide, game notes (short blurbs about the game), and content for the Liberty website. Craig has to make sure the media have the passes required to get into the arena and that they have all of the information necessary to cover the game. In addition, Craig helps set up databases where the coaching staff can prepare for the game by easily accessing the latest statistics.

From Player To Front Office

Craig was a player for the University of Connecticut during the 1997-98 season. Today he is working in the front office for the Liberty. He credits his background in sports with helping prepare him for this job. Before getting hired by the Liberty he did internships with the New York Rangers and worked as a sports trainee with the New York Knicks.

If you want to pursue a career in the front office of a team, Craig recommends that you pursue all sports related opportunities including internships. He says that having a strong character, being extremely motivated and the ability to communicate well, are the attributes that have helped him excel at his job. He also adds that the most impressive thing you can do in an interview for a job is to be confident and make eye contact with the interviewer.
