Fedor was born in Izhevsk, Russia and is making his Olympic debut for his home country. The 6-2, 209-pound rookie defenseman currently leads all Ranger defensemen with 20 points (five goals and fifteen assists) through 56 games this season. On the International scene, “Freddie” has helped Russia capture gold at both the 2001 and 2002 World Junior Championships. Known as a quiet and reserved teammate, Tyutin, 22, always maintains good positioning and takes care of the puck in the defensive end. He scored his first career NHL goal on March 13, 2004 against the Florida Panthers’ Roberto Luongo.

It was a tremendous honor. Our team had a lot of good young players and I am looking forward to hopefully going back (to the Olympics) and winning the gold for my country.
