From February 15th - 26th, twelve national teams competed in the men's ice hockey competition in Turin, Italy. Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka, Marek Malik and Martin Rucinsky won bronze medals with the Czech team by beating Darius Kasparaitis and Fedor Tyutin's Team Russia. Marcel Hossa's Slovakia was undefeated in the qualifying play but lost to the Czech's in the quarterfinal. The exciting tournament came to an end when Henrik Lundqvist won gold with Team Sweden by beating teammate and silver medalist Ville Nieminen's Finland.
