Marcel was born in Ilava, Czechoslovakia and is making his Olympic debut with the Slovakian team. In the past, Hossa has represented his home country at the 2005 World Championships in Austria and at the 2000 and 2001 World Junior Championships. Marcel is a very strong skater and he demonstrated his skills as a top performer in the 2003 YoungStars Game at All-Star Weekend in Florida, tallying two assists. Hossa’s older brother, Marion, is an All-Star Forward for the Atlanta Thrashers. “Hoss” is a big fan of house music and is the unofficial team DJ for workouts and pre-game locker room music.
