As a result of personal teaching methods and preference of activities, the New York State Learning Standards applied below may change, and are only a suggested approach toward organizing your lessons.

Elementary and Intermediate: Copland Timeline
In order for your students to fully understand the times in which Aaron Copland was living and working, have them create a time line from 1900 to 1990. As a class project, assign groups of students to research different topics to include in the Copland timeline, thus targeting world events as well. (i.e. politics, music, art, technology, etc.).

NYS Learning Standards: Arts
Standard 4: Understanding the Cultural Contributions of the Arts

Cross-Discipline - NYS Learning Standards Social Studies
