It begins with "Making the Decision to Run," and steps students through each phase of a campaign, including primaries, speeches, and waiting for the election returns.

Ice Cream Day helps students understand voting and elections using terms and situations they can relate to. Students can role-play several scenarios where the mayor, the city staff, or the whole population votes to choose an ice cream flavor to be served for the town holiday, Ice Cream Day. Older students can include issues such as women's rights and emancipation in their scenarios.
