Fundraising - Early Money

Social Studies
Standard 4:
Students will use a variety of intellectual skills to demonstrate their understanding of how the United States and other societies develop economic systems and associated institutions to allocate scarce resources, how major decision-making units function in the United States and in other national economics and how the economy solves the scarcity problem through market and nonmarket mechanisms.

Economics requires the development and application of skills needed to make informed and well reasoned economic decisions in daily and national life.

Performance Indicators:
  • Students will be able to identify, locate, and evaluate economic information from standard reference works, newspapers, periodicals, computer databases, monographs, textbooks, government publications, and other primary and secondary sources.

Mathematics, Science and Technology
Standard 1:
Students will use mathematical analysis, scientific inquiry and engineering design, as appropriate, to pose questions, seek answers and develop solutions.

Performance Indicators:
  • Students will be able to apply mathematical knowledge to solve real world problems and problems that arise fro the investigation of mathematical ideas, using representations such as pictures, charts, and tables.

Standard 2:
Students will access, generate, process and transfer information using appropriate technologies.

Performance Indicators:
Students will be able to:
  • Access needed information from printed media, electronic databases and community resources.
  • Access, select, collate, and analyze information obtained from a wide range of sources such as research databases, foundations, organizations, national libraries and electronic communication networks including the Internet.

Standard 7:
Students will apply the knowledge and thinking skills of mathematics, science and technology to address real-life problems and make informed decisions.

Performance Indicators:
  • Students will be able to use the knowledge and skills of Mathematics, Science and Technology to make informed decisions and solve problems.

English Language Arts
Standard 1:
Students will read, write, listen and speak for information and understanding.

Performance Indicators:
Students will be able to:

  • Interpret and analyze complex informational texts and presentations.
  • Use Standard English skillfully effectively applying established rules and conventions for presenting information.
  • Make distinctions about the relative value and significance of specific data facts and ideas.
  • Organize information according to an identifiable structure such as compare contrast or general to specific topics.

Standard 3:
Students will read write, listen and speak for critical analysis and evaluation.

Performance Indicators:
Students will be able to:
  • Analyze, interpret and evaluate ideas information organization and language of a wide range of general and technical texts and presentations across subject areas.
  • Present orally and in writing well-developed analysis of issues ideas and texts.
  • Make effective use of details, evidence and arguments and presentational strategies.
