About the Man
George W. Bush is following in his father's footsteps. His father, also named George Bush, was President of the United States from 1988-1992. The new President George W. Bush was born on July 6, 1946 and grew up in Midland and Houston, Texas. As a young man, he attended Yale, where he received a Bachelors degree and Harvard Business School where he earned an MBA. He was once the managing general partner for the Texas Rangers baseball team. His political background includes work on his father's 1988 presidential campaign, and serving as the governor of Texas from 1994 to the present. George will move from the Texas Governors mansion in Austin into the White House with his wife Laura, his 18-year-old twin daughters Barbara and Jenna, and the family pets, a dog named Spot and two cats named India and Ernie.
What's Next?
At inauguration, he will take over the White House and the presidency from current President Bill Clinton. Inauguration day is Saturday, January 20, 2001. From now until the inauguration, the incoming President will have a lot to do, from choosing a cabinet to preparing his first presidential address. You can prepare for the the inauguration as well.
