In response to the attack on the World Trade Center we have done the following:

Our school community of parents, children, relatives, businesses, faculty, staff, parishioners, et al. came together to donate two trailers filled with items such as blankets, towels, bottled water, sports drinks, antibiotic creams, aspirins, masks, flashlights, socks, underwear, boots and so much more. These items were delivered to a designated site located at 14th Street. Monetary contributions of approximately $2,900.00 were donated to the Daily News Charities.

We have participated in Candlelight Processions, in a special parish Mass, and Prayer Services. Our classes are making cards, writing letters and expressing concern for children in other schools located near the World Trade Center site. They are also sending written messages thanking our firefighters and rescue workers.

Our Eighth Graders are working on team projects which include a study of the history of the World Trade Center making models of the World Trade Center, posters, and collages. We hope to display this work in our school lobby. We are also planning to have a group of artistic students paint an appropriate mural in our school yard in the near future.

A group of families gathered together one evening after the tragedy of the World Trade Center and found a way to work on bringing an entire school together by making 800 red, white and blue ribbons. The ribbons were for all of the children, faculty and staff members of St. Barnabas Elementary School in the Bronx. Each of the ribbons held a small white, flowered cross with a safety pin for easy attachment to the children's uniforms. The children and staff members are faithfully wearing their ribbons every day.

Eleven families contributed their time, energies and resources resulting in a wonderful display of a group of caring parents, bringing their friends and family members together to work on offering support and patriotism to an entire school family.

Two fifth grade students held a bake sale to raise money for the WTC, while other students have been raising money in class.

Class 5-2 made cards for a family friend, whose husband, a firefighter, is still listed as missing.

A student in class 8-2 held an iced tea sale and raised over $200 for the Red Cross.

Two families held a garage sale and donated all proceeds to the Red Cross/WTC Funds.

Class 2-2 has held 2 Class Prayer Circles for those missing in the WTC tragedy. In social studies, the class discussed the Pledge of Allegiance and what it means to us. The class will also compose a class letter to send to another school.

The kindergarten classes have also discussed the Pledge of Allegiance and what it means to them.

Christopher Columbus High School
Students created a "Peace on Earth" hand painted mural overlapping into each other with different colors. We were featured in the Bronx Times- front page on Thursday 9/27 edition. Messages were written throughout our board expressing people's feelings towards the tragic event.

Trinity Lutheran School
The entire school is raising money for WTC with a Fall Candy Sale and a school-wide nickel drive.
