antiquated: Too old to be useful, outdated, or old-fashioned

asylum: an institution that cares for people with mental or physical problems

brusque: blunt and short, often to the point of being rude

debunk: show as untrue, prove false

destitute: having no money or property

entrepreneur: a person who creates and operates a business

expose: an article that uncovers little-known information

impoverished: poor or having lost most of the original strength

indigent: homeless and/or poor

paradoxical: having two or more characteristics that seem like opposites but are nonetheless real

propaganda: material sent out to encourage a cause or effort

ratified: approved or passed by Congress

stiletto: a high, narrow heeled women's shoe style

suffragist: someone promoting a group, usually women's, right to vote
